The Calm

"I call this shit the calm, but I'm the furthest thing from calm."

We all have our own personal comfort zone that we usually stick to. Routines that can be broken but haven't because it's easy to lay back and let everything follow. But if this is true, why do so many people blatantly strive to be "different"? At that, what is different and who decides what is and what isn't?

In my opinion, trying to be something you're not, is an average characteristic. People have been participating in this kind of behavior ever since I could remember. Some of us grew out of it, and then there were those who chose not to. Change breeds attention, whether it be negative or positive. Therefore, "different" people stand out and are susceptible to comments, and attention. The thing is, you can pretend for a certain period of time, but the only person you actually are fooling is yourself. When a person isn't inside of their comfort zone, it shows. To hide the fact that you're uncomfortable, you've gotta have a hell of an act going to fool someone.

Then you have your average person who pretends to be alright and really isn't. Putting off your problems for the next day will only prolong your issues. We have to learn how to face facts. No one said that life would be easy and until now, it hasn't proved to be anything but difficult obstacles that we must learn to overcome. Procrastination leads to nothing. So again, pretending like you're something other than yourself, will only lead to issues in the end.

What I don't understand is why anyone would go through this just to impress other people. Being true to yourself? That's impressive. You don't meet too many people willing to share their original ideas. At that, you don't meet many people who are comfortable being themselves.

Society the criminal? I think so. Originality doesn't exist because we don't allow it to. This is another topic in itself, but I just wanted to touch upon it for a brief second. Give you something to think about.
