The Gratitude

"Fate, Chance, God's Will - we all try to account for our lives somehow. What are the chances that two raindrops, flung from the heavens, will merge on a windowpane? Gotta be Fate." - Robert Brault

So cliche to make statements such as "everything happens for a reason", or "When God closes a door, he opens five more." However, I believe in these ideas more and more each day. I see a direct correlation between the lessons we learn and the mistakes that we make. Both of these teach us to fully appreciate the life we have been given. It helps us understand the true beauty in everything that we do. Sometimes I want to have a cup of tea with our creator and discuss my life. I've never really had the opportunity to sit and analyze how and why I've came so far.

Part I: Lessons
Let it be understood that we are in control of most things that occur in our lives. This might be difficult to believe at first, but a positive mind state will only result in positivity. There WILL be bumps along the way but please understand these obstacles to be lessons; God's way of letting you know that you are headed in the right path. We truly won't learn how to appreciate this beautiful life, until we undergo struggle. I look back at all of the rough patches in my life and I compare how I felt about them with how I feel towards them at this point in time. I never understood why some people didn't have to go through as much hardships as others. Then I realized that some of the most insightful and wise people I've been blessed to meet, have undergone even more struggle throughout their life. These are lessons that guide you towards living to your fullest capability.

Part II: Understanding
Let it be fully understood that struggle is beneficial to a certain extent, but also inevitable. You can spend your life looking back at the bad times, and in that becoming depressed and unhappy with yourself. You might believe that you are the only person who has ever been affected by problems that the world happens to bring. The fact of the matter is, you are not alone. These moments, the good and the bad, give you a better understanding and a better viewpoint on society, family, and the world in general; anything you can think of. This is where the lesson plan kicks in. Instead of scowling at your past, take the time to analyze the situation. How has this affected you as a whole? What lessons have you learned and most importantly, how have you applied them to your everyday life?

Part III: Application
Applying lessons is a process in itself. I didn't fully apply the most important lesson until this year, this being that life is precious and we must appreciate it daily. I've come to a point where I am fully content with everything that has happened in the last 18 years. Life is a beautiful thing. I continue to spread this message with everyone that I meet. I've noticed that the people that I hold dearest to me are also people who are, for the most part, content with their lives and how far they have progressed. We all continue to grow. Never does a day go by where I feel like I have digressed or not made progress on something whatsoever. Positivity is a magnet. You will attract positive things if you breed positivity.

Common mistakes:
"I need someone to make me happy."
"My life sucks", and then wondering why their life actually isn't going as well as they planned... if they planned anything at all.
"Things will get better with time."
"I'm no one without you."

I can't tell you how many times I hear the same exact complaints. Let this be understood: If you cannot make yourself happy, no one else will be attracted to you. They say the prettiest girls are the happiest. Let's face it, no one wants to be around someone who constantly whines but never does anything to solve their problems.

One must practice the wonderful art of optimism. Having a positive outlook on life will result in positivity for the most part because I can honestly promise you that NOTHING good will come from complaining and spreading negativity all of the time. Positive auras do not linger around negative people. If your soul is heavy, maybe you need to write, or speak to someone. However, please avoid negativity as much as you can. There obviously needs to be a balance, for this is how the soul of the world works, but this does not signify that you surround yourself with people or things that are obviously not helping you progress.

For y'all tumblr users, check out this wonderful blog. (www.socialsociety.tumblr.com)Stop following blogs that promote vanity and material things.I can't tell you about how tumblr is now, but when I did have one, I unfollowed so many people because it seemed like they all followed the same trends and in that, were promoting a certain type of negative lifestyle.
